The principles of shared decision-making and collaboration are key to creating a democratic space for artists and arts practitioners in the Cape Town ecosystem. To do this, the AVA relies on a dynamic and enthusiastic Board.

What does the board do?

The board is made up of between 6 and 15 elected and non-remunerated volunteers. It develops an annual strategy and ensures strategic alignment across all sub-committees.

Do people have different roles on the Board?

Yes, there is a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Treasurer, who, together with the Director, make up the Executive Committee. The board elects members for these roles at its first meeting after an AGM. Other board members serve on sub-committees in line with their individual skill sets.

What are sub-committees?
